What We Believe

Northshore Christian Church is an independentnon-denominational church.
Please read below the Biblical passages which describe what we believe.

Jesus Christ:

We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He was fully human and fully divine, lived a sinless life and died on the cross to free us from our sins. We believe because of His death and resurrection from the dead He is the only way to salvation.
(Matthew 1:18; Hebrews 4:15; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; John 14:3; John 1:1, John 10:27-28)

The Holy Spirit:

We believe the Holy Spirit is a person of the Holy Trinity, wholly personal and fully divine in all His attributes. We believe that the Holy Spirit convicts us of our sin and of the judgment to come. Further, we believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer and guides and empowers him for Christ-like living.
(Ephesians 1:13-14, Acts 5:3-4, John 16:8-10, John 3:5-6, Romans 8:9-16)

Man:

We believe man was created in the image of God to love, worship, and obey God. However, man sinned and broke his relationship with God resulting in physical, emotional, spiritual and eternal death to all of creation.
We believe, in spite of man's sinful nature, God continued to love him and desired to restore his love relationship with Him.

The Bible

We believe the 66 books that compose the New and Old Testaments of The Holy Bible are Gods inspired, inerrant and authoritative Word without error.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1: 20-21)

“We believe that both the Old and New Testament Scriptures are inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in their original manuscripts (1 Timothy 3:16-17).  They contain the complete revelation of God’s Will for the salvation of and constitute the divine and only rule of faith and practice.  The Bible is inerrant, infallible and the source of absolute Truth we rely on. Where it speaks, we listen and obey.  Understanding and obeying the Word of God IS our agenda for making disciples (Matthew 28:19).”

― Lead Pastor, Ken Long

Salvation:

We believe that even though men and women cannot receive salvation by good works, their good works are evidence of true faith in God and Jesus as Lord and are thus pleasing to God. Salvation is a free gift bestowed by God's grace, received by faith, and secured by Christ alone.
(Ephesians 2:8-10, John 10:27-20, Matthew 5:16, Matthew 7:16-20)

Baptism:

We believe immersion in water of a professed believer is a Bible baptism. Such baptism is symbolic of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection.
(Romans 6:1-4)

Discipleship:

Simply put we believe discipleship is important because that is the model that Jesus gave us to follow.
Matthew 4:19  “Come, follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
A disciple is one who is committed to: following Jesus, being changed by Jesus, being on mission with Jesus.

The Church:

We believe the purpose of the church on earth is to fulfill the last command of Jesus Christ – "Then Jesus came to them and said ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’" We believe the local church is governed by godly men known as elders or bishops and is the bride and body of Christ.
(Matthew 28:18-20, Ephesians 5:25-33,1 Corinthians 12, Titus 1:5)
